Project Details

Capital Square in downtown Des Moines, Iowa is a premier Class A office and retail building featuring eight stories of modern design, open atriums, and expansive floor plates. Located in the heart of the city, the property offers strong natural light, downtown views, and flexible tenant spaces. When the exterior needed a refresh, the owners selected JC Toland Painting to complete a full repaint. The project updated the building from a red-stripe scheme to a clean, modern gray-stripe finish.

As a commercial construction contractor in Iowa, JC Toland specializes in high-rise and difficult-access exterior painting. For Capital Square, traditional lifts and scaffolding were not practical. Therefore, our crews completed all work using swing stage access systems. Our team is fully trained in swing stage operations and follows strict safety protocols on every project. As a result, we maintain efficiency at height while prioritizing safety and control.

The project required detailed surface preparation and precise coating application. Working from suspended platforms, our crews removed failing coatings, prepared substrate areas, and applied high-performance exterior paint systems. We ensured consistent coverage across concrete and metal surfaces throughout the façade.

The updated gray-stripe design significantly improved the building’s appearance. Capital Square now reflects a more contemporary Class A aesthetic that aligns with its downtown presence.

Overall, this project highlights JC Toland Painting’s experience with high-rise commercial exterior painting in Des Moines, Iowa. Specifically, our team delivers safe, efficient, and high-quality results on complex downtown buildings.

Capital Square stands as a strong example of how strategic exterior repainting enhances long-term value, curb appeal, and tenant perception.
