Project Details
Ames History Museum is the perfect showcase of all JC Toland has to offer. For a smaller facility, we were involved in a significant amount of trades which helped turn this old run down building on Ames Historic Main Street back into a showcase for the entire community of Ames.Amongst other trades, we were involved with metal stud framing, drywall installation, drywall and plaster finishing, sand blasting (the original tin ceilings), acoustical ceiling installation, exterior stucco repair and painting, wood staining, and interior wall and ceiling repainting. Possibly the most interesting work we did though, was on two specialty restorations. The original vault door was one of those pieces—which was rusted to what some would say was beyond repair; but we ground down the rust, re-coated it, and finished with a high performance coating. The exterior ‘Ames Pantorium’ neon sign was also worse for wares, and was refinished with extra-cautious detail around the original neon lettering, and coated with a high performance top coat.
We’re proud to share the following photos, which are a holistic capture of (most, but not all) our capabilities.
