Project Details

The Bruce McKee Volleyball Center in Ames, Iowa is a newly renovated athletic facility at Iowa State University. The project transformed the former Bruce McKee Tennis Building into a dedicated volleyball training and practice facility. The renovation repurposed the existing structure into a modern, high-performance space for Division I student-athletes. As a result, the facility now includes updated locker rooms, offices, physical therapy areas, and team support spaces.

JC Toland Painting served as the commercial contractor for this institutional renovation. We worked alongside Estes Construction on this Iowa State University remodel project and our team delivered comprehensive interior painting and specialty coating services throughout the facility. These efforts helped create a clean, durable, and high-end finish for a top collegiate athletic program.

Our scope included painting exposed ceiling decks, structural steel, and a new industrial stair system. In addition, we completed stairwells, handrails, office areas, and redesigned locker rooms. These athletic support spaces demanded high-performance commercial coatings, therefore, we selected systems that deliver long-term durability in a high-use environment. At the same time, we maintained a clean, modern, and professional appearance across all finishes.

This project demonstrates JC Toland Painting’s experience with commercial painting services in Ames, Iowa. Specifically, it highlights our work within institutional and athletic facility renovations. We coordinated closely with multiple trades throughout active construction. This coordination helped maintain schedule alignment and consistent quality across all substrates and finishes.

The Bruce McKee Volleyball Center now stands as a premier training facility for Iowa State University volleyball. Overall, the finished space reflects thoughtful design and precise finishing work throughout every interior area.
