Project Details
The Ward 3 Expandsion at Iowa State University's College of Veterinary Medicine in Ames, Iowa, is providing additional spaces for the Large Animal Ward, supporting the university's veterinary care and education programs. JC Toland Painting is bringing a wide range of painting and coating expertise to the expansion, tackling everything from exposed structural steel and interior finishes to high-performance coatings and exterior components. Our interior scope includes painting precast concrete, concrete masonry unit (CMU) walls, and gypsum board surfaces throughout the expansion. Our crews are also responsible for painting open-to-structure and drywall ceilings, along with exposed structural steel and overhead doors in various areas of the facility.
The project also includes the application of high-performance coatings to specified surfaces. These coatings are designed to provide added durability and protection in areas where surfaces may be exposed to demanding conditions and regular use.
Exterior work within our scope includes painting stair railings and completing specified window glazing work. These components contribute to both the functionality and finished appearance of the building.
One unique feature of this project is the equine treadmill pit, a specialized area designed to accommodate treadmill equipment used in large animale veterinary care. It's not something our crews come across on a typical commercial jobsite, and is one of the features that makes this expansion particularly interesting.
From painting precast, drywall, and exposed steel to applying specialty coatings, the Ward 3 Expansion involves a wide range of surfaces and finish requirements. As construction continues, our crews will work alongside the other trades on site to bring each portion of the project together.
JC Toland Painting is proud to constibute to the continued development of Iowa State University's College of Veterinary Medicine and the facilities that support its students, faculty, veterinary professionals, and the animals in their care.
